2022 ACTIVITIES

SPE Family Day

On the 19th March 2022, SPE UMS SC held an annual Family Day at Kionsom Waterfall Recreation Centre in Kota Kinabalu Sabah, consisting of 25 participants of UMS SPE members from Oil and Gas Engineering students and Geology students.

Objectives of this event are to provides a platform for each club member to get acquainted with each other and members of the club's committee, to motivate club members to always work together in completing a task and to develop good teamwork skills among SPE's members.

We are utmost thankful to G-Team Training agency to organize teambuilding actvities for our Family Day event and to have an overwhelming support from the participants that had made the event successful.

Engineering to Business Shift Talk

On the 5th of March 2022, a forum talk entitled Engineering to Business Shift Talk was successfully conducted by the SPE UMS Student Chapter. The talk aimed to benefits students of engineering backgrounds to gain insights into the business career prospects.

SP4Youth 1.0

On June 2022, SPE Universiti Malaysia Sabah SC organized an event, Sabah Petroleum for Youth (SP4Youth) which involved secondary students from MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) Kota Kinabalu, SM All Saints, and SM St Michael. This program's primary purpose is to expose secondary students from Sabah to the oil and gas industry. From this program, they will build their interest to build their career path in the oil and gas industry.

Industrial Visit

Industrial visits to Petronas Office Tower or Petronas Tower 4 are a great way for engineering students to gain insight into the workings of a major international energy company. During the visit, students will have the opportunity to explore the company's facilities, observe staff in action, and get a firsthand look at the operations of the industry. Additionally, students will learn about the latest technologies and innovations used by Petronas to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of energy resources. The visit also provides a valuable opportunity for students to network and make connections with Petronas representatives.

Internship Sharing Session

The Engineering Internship Sharing Session is a valuable opportunity for senior students (3rd year and above) to share their knowledge, tips and tricks to help the younger students gain a successful internship placement. During the session, senior students will be sharing their experiences and the projects they have undertaken during their internship. They will be providing advice on the application process and what employers are looking for in potential interns. This session is a great opportunity for students to gain invaluable insights from experienced professionals and to ask any questions they may have. It is a great way to start the journey towards a successful internship placement.

Annual General Meeting

On January 07, 2023, The SPE UMS Student Chapter held The 3rd Annual General Meeting at Galeri Majlis, Canselori UMS. This event was attended by 44 attendees, including lecturers, previous session and new session SPE UMS SC board, and the AGM committee. 

This event's goals are to report on past activities, accomplishments, and financial status, to introduce the SPE UMS SC committee board for the 2022/2023 session, and to discuss future club programme planning for the 2022/2023 session. This event will serve as a blueprint for the new committee to handle the club and its activities in the future. 

We would like to express our gratitude to Madam Hafeza, who inaugurated the event and the lecturers who attended the event. We would also like to express our appreciation to the previous session's committee members, who performed their duties admirably despite the significant obstacle. Congratulations to the newly elected members of the SPE UMS SC committee. We wish you success and hope you can perform your duties with confidence. Last but least, thank you to the AGM committee member for the effort and the event planning.

Majlis Suai Mesra (MSM) SPE UMS SC

On the 27th and 29th of October 2022, The SPE UMS Student Chapter organized a Minggu Suai Mesra event specifically for the incoming batch of students who were selected to pursue their studies at Universiti Malaysia Sabah in the Engineering of Oil and Gas program. This event aimed to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the new students as they embarked on their academic journey at the university. The program was held at the library and FKJ Foyer.

During this program, we conducted a variety of activities, including an Industrial Talk from Experts, a briefing about SPE, as well as ice-breaking games, gifts, and the opportunity to earn SDP points. It was a wonderful opportunity for new students to get acquainted with our organization and the industry we represent.
