The Community Awareness Programme, held on June 17, 2023, at Rumah Anak Yatim As-Sakinah, was meticulously organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) UMS Student Chapter club. The event spanned from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm and was attended by 28 participants,16 club members and a respected lecturer.
The program began with an engaging welcome speech by the emcees, followed by a heartfelt du'a led by Mohammad Shuaib Bin Madnuru, fostering a positive and unified atmosphere. The Program Director, Nik Nurfatin Natasha Binti Ahmad Daud, then delivered an impactful opening speech, highlighting the program's objectives and significance. Subsequently, Tuan Haji Nasaruddin Muhammad @ MD Said, the Chairman of Rumah Anak Yatim As-Sakinah, shared insights emphasizing community engagement and support. A significant part of the program featured a solemn souvenirs presentation ceremony, which showcased the commitment of both the SPE UMS Student Chapter Club and Rumah Anak Yatim As-Sakinah representatives towards fostering a collaborative relationship.
Additionally, Dr. Norsuhadat Nordin delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Introduction of Oil and Gas Engineering course offered at UMS, shedding light on the various career opportunities available in the field.
Participants were divided into five groups and engaged in various activities throughout the event. The first activity. "Name Game & Creative Name Tag," encouraged individual expression through crafting personalized name tags. The second game, "Flashcard & Lukisan," utilized visual communication to depict verbs on flashcards, promoting teamwork and interpretation. The highlight of the event was the "Straw Tower Challenge," where participants showcased their engineering skills by constructing stable towers from straws, tested with the placement of a small bottle of mineral water.
The event concluded with an award ceremony, recognizing the outstanding performance of the top three groups and presenting them with prizes. Additionally, all participants received tokens of appreciation in the form of goodies, acknowledging their active involvement and contributions to the program's success. The program ended on a celebratory note, with a group photograph capturing the camaraderie between club members and participants, serving as a lasting memento of the collaborative and fruitful partnership between the SPE UMS Student Chapter Club and Rumah Anak Yatim As-Sakinah.
