On June 14, 2023, SPE UMS SC organized an insightful visit to PETRONAS Chemical Fertilizer Sdn Bhd (PCFS) and Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP) in Sipitang. The visit aimed to provide students with a firsthand opportunity to observe and understand the practical aspects of the oil and gas Industry, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge gained in lectures and the actual workings of the industry.
The visit began with a warm welcome from Mr. Yaakob, Group Manager of the Technical & Professional Services Group at SOODC, who provided an overview of SOOIP's crucial role in the all and gas industry. He highlighted the site's significance in contributing to the nation's energy sector and shared valuable Insights into the future plans and developments for SOGIP, enlightening the students about the exciting prospects in the Industry.
In the second session, the group proceeded to PCFS, where Mr. Ajmal provided a comprehensive explanation of the company's operations. He emphasized PCFS's role in the production of chemical fertilizers and its importance in supporting sustainable agriculture and food production. The visit also included presentations by two engineers, Mr. Zulhilmi and Mr. Zulhisham, who elaborated on the production processes of Ammonia and Urea, respectively, giving students a deeper understanding of these crucial components.
